Leone Traditional Waist Beads

All Tie Waist Beads

This collection was inspired by trade beads also know as Christmas beads because of their resemblance to Christmas lights. Beads in general have a very important place in African culture and they were originally used as a form of trading currency (even during the Slave trade).

So wearing beads is often associated with wealth and prosperity, but also a reminder of our rich history and the value of our ancestors. These waist beads are named after the Sierra Leonian Currency the Leone.
